Lifting As We Climb
The Western Regional Convention is WRBLSA’s premier annual gathering, bringing together Black law students, attorneys, judges, alumni, legal employers, and leaders from across the Western Region for four days of connection, professional development, advocacy, and celebration.
Rooted in our theme, Lifting As We Climb, the Convention creates space for students to learn from those who came before them, build meaningful relationships with their peers and future colleagues, and develop the skills necessary to lead in the legal profession.
From advocacy competitions and thought-provoking panels to hands-on workshops and intentional networking opportunities, the Convention brings together the people, ideas, and experiences that make our community stronger

Speakers
Hear from distinguished attorneys, judges, advocates, scholars, and other legal professionals who share their experiences, expertise, and perspectives on navigating and shaping the legal profession.
Competitions
Witness the Region’s strongest advocates compete in the Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition and Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition, showcasing the advocacy, preparation, and courtroom skills of Black law students from across the Western Region.
Networking
Build relationships that extend beyond the Convention. Students will have opportunities to connect with peers, alumni, attorneys, judges, legal employers, and corporate partners while developing professional relationships and strengthening the community that supports them throughout their careers.
Panels
Engage in dynamic conversations addressing timely legal issues, emerging areas of practice, career pathways, and the realities of navigating the legal profession. Panels bring together attorneys, judges, practitioners, and other industry leaders to offer perspectives students can carry with them beyond law school.
Workshops
Gain practical tools for success through interactive workshops focused on academic achievement, career preparation, leadership development, professional skills, and readiness for legal practice. Each session is designed to provide students with strategies they can put into practice immediately.
